Horses, fairs and floats

Alaior is the third largest population of Menorca, after Mahon and Ciutadella. Alaior celebrations are festivals that are held in honor of San Lorenzo during the weekend after 10 August (fiestas of Sant Llorenç).

The origin of this holiday goes back to the conquest of Menorca by King Alfonso III “El Liberal” in the year 1287.

The tradition of horse racing during the festival of the people has become the stone walls of Cos is a great place to enjoy an afternoon of racing hall on Monday.

Twenty-five years the festival of San Lorenzo include a spectacular parade of floats on Sunday afternoon of the party. Also participate in this parade giants and big-heads of Alaior.
