‘Quan l’octubre fa la fi, Tots Sants és el dematí’
The tranlsation of this Menorcan phrase is: ‘Once October is over, the next morning brings All Saints’.
On All Saints' Day, it is customary in Menorca to eat fritters. Years ago, the night before All Saints' Day, families would get together to enjoy a dinner, which included fritters as a dessert. They were eaten sprinkled with a kind of thick jelly and chopped fruit (arrop). Nowadays they are sprinkled with sugar or drizzled with honey.
