The Salort Palace, known as Can Salort, is located on Major Street in Alaior. It served as the residence of the Salort family from the 17th century until it was acquired by the Town Council in 1995 for public use. Since then, the Public Library has occupied the ground floor and mezzanine. Between 1996 and 1998, renovation works were carried out, and in October 1998, the building was inaugurated as the headquarters for the University Extension of the Balearic Islands.
