Menorca Cathedral

Menorca Cathedral

The Saint Mary Church was built after the conquest of the island in 1287 on the same site as the Main Mosque of the Islamic medina. It was consecrated as the Cathedral of Menorca in 1795. The main building, erected in the 14th century, with additional interventions over subsequent centuries is Gothic in style and features a single nave and ribbed vaults. The Chapel of the Souls is Baroque, while the main portal and the Chapel of the Holy Sacrament, from the early 19th century, are Neoclassical.
