Built under the orders of General Stuart, the British governor of Menorca, in 1798. Located on Cerro d'en Penjat, it was constructed by the British to protect the southern flank of the fortress and prevent attackers from establishing a battery in that location, as had happened during the sieges of 1756 and 1781.
The tower has three levels: the ground floor served as a storage area, the middle floor as troop accommodation, and the upper floor for combat artillery. Access to the tower is via the middle floor, and around it there was a moat covering 180°, so the rest of the tower was defended by the natural slope of the terrain.
