Ciutadella Town Hall

Ciutadella Town Hall

The city council building is a work by architect Enric Sagnier and was built between 1884 and 1925. It stands on the site of an old Islamic kasbah which, after the Christian conquest of 1287, became the fortress of the Governor of Menorca. It served as the military governor's residence until it was ceded to the Town Council to construct the current building. The façade, in eclectic style, is a free and romantic interpretation of the original kasbah.
