Bishop's Palace. Cal Bisbe

The promotion of Saint Mary Church as Cathedral of Menorca under King Carlos IV of Spain in 1795 required building a Bishop's residence in accordance with its new purpose. Construction began in 1798 but was never fully completed, resulting in the main entrance being offset to one side relative to the constructed ensemble. Access to various diocesan offices and the Bishop's residence is through a secluded inner courtyard that is often open to the public in morning hours.
