Saint Nicholas Tower

The tower takes its name from its proximity to a chapel dedicated to Saint Nicholas, which was demolished in 1799. Built at the end of the 17th century, it safeguarded the entrance to Ciutadella’s harbour and nearby coves, preventing enemy ships from landing. Its defensive origins ceased in the 19th century and recent restorations have recovered the structure’s original appearance.
It's open to the public during the tourist season, and the artillery terrace offers impressive sunset views.
