Vània: Joel Joan's stage challenge playing eight characters

Vània is a reimagining of Anton Chekhov's masterpiece, Uncle Vanya, presented in monologue format. Through Simon Stephens' adaptation, the classic is brought to the present day to offer a contemporary, intimate, and deeply human reading.

Directed by Nelson Valente and starring Joel Joan, the piece becomes a mosaic of eight characters trapped in a manor house sharing what could be their last summer. The great difficulty of this proposal lies in the fact that all characters are played by a single actor.
