Gastronomy of Menorca
Menorca’s gastronomy stands out for its fusion of Mediterranean tradition and local products. Thanks to the quality of its fresh, seasonal ingredients and the presence of top-level chefs, the island has become a true culinary destination.
Among the most iconic dishes is the lobster stew (caldereta de langosta), an intensely flavorful dish often served with toasted bread. Other local favorites include oliaigua, a cold soup made with tomato, pepper and water, and panadera, a fish or meat stew with potatoes. You also can’t miss the stuffed squid or eggplants Menorcan-style, arròs de la terra and the Mahón cheeses, made artisanally. Among the desserts, highlights include formatjades, ensaimadas, pastissets and orelletes.
