There is such variety of local foods in Menorca, ranging from snails to saffron, sweet pastries and honey; for those who enjoy a drink, there are spirits, beer and renowned wines, to say nothing of the iconic local cheese and charcuterie.

Given that good cooking is all about using quality ingredients, it is not surprising that Menorcan cuisine is beginning to gain an international reputation. It seems hardly possible that there should be such a variety of culinary delights in an area of about 700km2

There are a number of factors that come into play for such quality produce: climate, traditional farming and fishing methods, and the islanders’ attitude to preserving their environment.
